The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) is where energy professionals meet to exchange ideas and opinions to advance scientific and technical knowledge for offshore resources and environmental matters.
Founded in 1969, OTC’s flagship conference is held annually at NRG Park (formerly Reliant Park) in Houston, Texas, USA. OTC has expanded technically and globally with the Arctic Technology Conference, OTC Brazil, and OTC Asia.
OTC is sponsored by 13 industry organizations and societies, who work cooperatively to develop the technical program. These include:
- American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG)
- American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
- Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Oceanic and Engineering Society (IEEE-OES)
- American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers (AIME)
- Society For Mining, Metallurgy, And Exploration Inc. (SME)
The OTC 2015 kicked off on Sunday May 3rd, 2015 with the annual OTC dinner during which distinguished contributors to the industry were honoured. From Monday May 4 – 7, 2015 the following featured during the conference:
- Topical breakfast and luncheons
- The next wave with the theme “Thinking Globally”, where industry leaders and young professionals discussed how to face new challenges in the industry.
- Technical sessions including paper presentations and panel discussions on real-timed monitoring and risk assessment, corporate social responsibility and ultra-deep water technology development programme.
- Networking events focusing on gender diversity in the industry, Brazilian market opportunities and subsurface integration.
- Exhibition by hundreds of industry products makers/marketers.
- R&D workshop by Energy Educating Institutes.
Friday May 8, 2015 featured the new d5: The Next Big Thing event where motivational speakers and group discussions were expected to inspire creativity to help identify the next big step in the energy industry.
