I have always known that it’s hard to have to stay indoors for a defined period. I never knew it could be this hard, even when the muscles have become significantly weaker. Suddenly, it has become clear that everybody in society is important. How does the essential service provider continue his movement with a flat tyre when the vulcanizer is indoor? How is ‘agberu’ able to shout for passengers if the ‘ogogoro’ seller is off duty?
Four-hour activity period for food sellers per day! Once again, our thinkers seem to have gotten it wrong. What about those who need 2-3 hours to get to their duty posts? And same to get back home? All for 4-hour activity? Most of the purchased food items are consumed in the urban centres but their production centres are often far off. What happens when the limited stocks in the urban centres are exhausted?
I have already noticed some of the shopping centres close business until the restrictions are eased especially the big ones which require long startup and closing times. This forced drop in available selling points increases scarcity and consequently inflation.
I think we would have had a more efficient lockdown system if normal operating times are allowed for essential services while deploying the implementation resources to ensure it remains strictly so. Now implementation of any is poor. Just watched a video of Benin functioning normally. Hope we all get through this alright.
