El-Rufai, Senate, others, request Buhari to declare bandits terrorists.
True, they terrorize the citizenry, they do not qualify to be classified as terrorists going by the internationally accepted definition of a terrorist. Going by what we read in the newspapers and hear on TV, the people we call bandits are merely different gangs of criminals who are having a field day killing, maiming and kidnapping for ransom simply because we have weak leadership.
These gangs are not necessarily projecting any views they want us to adhere to or have respect for. Plain lawlessness in the face of ineffective deterrence, pure and simple! Most of the gangs do not have clear identities. We simply know them as ‘bandit’. Should a generic name be declared terrorist? Armed robbers, pirates, kidnappers, rapists, etc all over the country also terrorize innocent citizens.
Should they also be declared terrorists? I thought these our leaders should expend their precious time working out(and pushing) ways to check the menace.
