In the past several days I have read a repeatedly shared post on the wonderful performance of the governor of Oyo state in 100 days. The author even went further to request the elders of Oyo state to investigate the governor’s ancestry, because he could not be a Nigerian. In other words, his achievements in 100 days are so impressive that he can’t possibly be a Nigerian. Performance type that Nigerian leaders are not known for. If all the facts in the post are accurate, or near accurate, I simply say kudos to the governor.
Imagine a similar feat being replicated in the 36 states, FCT and the presidency. Nigeria would no doubt become unrecognizable in just 100 days. Suppose similar attitude were to replace the current ones in the Judiciary, NASS and us the led! I truly find it difficult to imagine what Nigeria would be like in just 100 days! 100 days!! A little over three months. More still, suppose it happened all over the country for a whole tenure of 4 years! Wow! And yet our leaders have been coming and going after every 4 years and the country has continued to sink. My God!
Remember, Oluwaseun Makinde stepping in as governor of Oyo sate was the only change in the state and all the goodies began falling like rain. He didn’t insist that the state stand still and be restructured before anything could work. The same structure, same facilities, same features, same human beings and same geographical location his predecessors had at their disposal for years were all that governor Makinde had and he achieved so much in just 100 days. This clearly demonstrates that the most important change we need for our country to move ahead at a good speed is that of attitude, mindset. Others can then follow.
