When some years ago, this man was accused of looting stupendous sums from Akwa Ibom state covers as governor, I became convinced that he was jail bound. Instead, he was rewarded with a senatorial seat. When his attempt to return was bungled, I said to myself, aha he will now be isolated and easier to be held accountable.
I was again mistaken, as he was once again rewarded with a ministerial position. This government seems to have a penchant for engaging those whose public images are riddled with corruption allegations. They always remind us that no one is guilty until so proven by a court of law.
Akpabio’s responses in the ongoing NDDC corruption imbroglio showed clearly he had no answer to the allegations leveled against him. Not just that, he actually insulted the whole nation by persistently evading the issues, in other words, he was having fun while his nation bled. Why would he not, when he felt certain that nothing would happen to him. Is it only that?
No mercy for the environmentally devastated and impoverished Niger Delta Region for whose development the money is meant? The NDR is not in short supply of diehard militants. Why have they not extended their parade to the cursed NDDC? They must all be on vacation abroad
