The Feb. 25, 2023, presidential and NASS elections have come and gone. Anger, frustration, anxiety, etc all over. The promised El Dorado does not seem to be in sight. Some call for outright cancellation, others stand in between, grimaced. I still ask, is this the best way to pick our leader at this stage of our development? Can’t we find something simpler and cheaper in the interim? We can return to this cumbersome, expensive method (if we must) when we believe we are good enough to make it deliver the expected goods. Some will naturally place the blame squarely on INEC. INEC can only do as much as Nigerians allow it to. In my view, the preparations of INEC for this year’s elections have been the most extensive so far. But what do we have? Problems created by Nigerians.
