The business of kidnap for ransom continues to spread like wildfire in the country. The reason is simple: relatives of kidnap victims yield to pressure to pay ransom and most of the perpetrators end up not being caught or adequately punished.
The end result is that they stay put and enjoy their loot, and the business remains lucrative so many more are attracted. Bottom line is that government has failed to stem it.
Citizens also contribute because all kidnappers are known to some innocent citizens who choose to keep quiet.
