A few decades ago, most Nigerian cities did not have motorcyclists and tricyclists as commercial transport workers. No one made a law inviting them to participate in the transport business. They simply filled a void created by govt ceaseless blundering. The heavy patronage they have since enjoyed demonstrated their value in our daily life.

Using govt law to push them off the streets on the excuse of unacceptable high rates of accident or crime with promises of imposition of ameliorating measures that are unlikely to be sustainable isn’t the best way to resolve the issue.

A better(sustainable) way I believe is to simply govern well thereby uplifting the entire society and ‘okada’ & ‘keke’ business will die a natural death in major areas of business activity, remnants being pushed to the hinterland where they will still render useful service.
