Good the southern governors have started meeting. That may be the beginning of good politics. Their communique can be described as an expression of wishes. Strategy to realize them not yet clear. As a follow-up, why don’t they push the current collaboration to the polls towards achieving a southern president in 2023? Collaboration between north and west produced a president.
The entire south can do the same with the middle belt neighbours if the whole north is not achievable. I think this can produce a southern president through the ballot box. But be warned, a southern president does not guarantee good governance! Now comes the big question: can they reach a consensus on a sellable candidate?
If it works, it may be an opportunity to work towards dumping the party system, which I have never been comfortable with. Otherwise, they should better work through their parties.
