61 years of wasted opportunities
Of tribalism, nepotism, religious intolerance
Of mindless looting, obscene wealth display
Of increasing poverty, cheating of the vulnerable
Increasing violent crimes
Declining healthcare delivery
Declining nationalism
Our hopes and aspirations remain high
And with prayers, soul search and hard work
We shall surmount all the problems
We must thank God
For the journey so far
