N149m budgeted for foodstuff and catering materials supplies for the president and his vice. This comes down to N12,416,666.67 per month, i.e. N413,888.89 per day for both men. Wow! This daily meal must be 200 times bigger than Okonkwo’s pounded yam in Things Fall Apart.
That is not all. N43.916m budgeted for refreshment and meals for the same two men. This comes to N121,988.89 per day. All total N535,877.78 per day for edibles only for two people. Please note that both items are budgeted for separately for State House Headquarters.
I wonder what they are supposed to do with their salaries. Or maybe they don’t receive salaries. I learnt long time ago that Barack Obama as president paid for his meals from his salaries.
Additionally, N184.438m is budgeted for honorarium and sitting allowance for the same two men, i.e. N512,327.78 per day sitting assuming they sit everyday including Saturdays and Sundays. What a great budget, designed to touch the marginalized and most vulnerable Nigerians.
